The PSAT is often considered the pre-SAT. It consists of verbal, math, and writing skills sections. The score range on the PSAT is 1-240. It
also estimates what a student's SAT might be. This is the test taken by juniors to determine eligibility for a National Merit Scholarship. It is only
given once a year. Juniors who are planning on college should take this test. In addition, top sophomores may choose to take the
test. However, scores taken as juniors are the only ones considered in the National Merit Scholarship competition.
The next PSAT will be given in the fall of 2009.
